Would power boats help to get the water moving and therefore cut down on algae? Maybe not ski boats but small fishing boats or even the paddle-wheel hire boats like on LBG.

Isn’t the problem that the lakes are too wide and slow moving.

Deeper wouldn’t fix the problem much as the pollution would build up more.

Instead of the lake moving left to right it should zigzag back and forth along the route, more like a river than a lake.

Sections should have rocks or some other biological filter so air is added and water is churned. But having a faster moving lake will decrease algae

The lakes in Canberra will always be algae filled cesspools due to the penny pinching ideology behind their construction. I’ve lived in shell scrapes that were deeper!

Instead of kicking a few feet of top soil off and stopping when it started to get hard and calling it a lake, some actual thought into the future prosperity of the pond might have made these things into self sufficient bodies of water, fun and fish!

Drain every last one of them, dig down another 50′, refill, add fish, sit back and relax! Algae will all but disappear and with all the dirt that comes out of them we could improve other areas of Canberra, by burying Belconnen, Gungahlin and my feral neighbors!

Not to mention the massive berm we could build separating us from Qbn!

I read an article recently that stated that Lake Tuggeranong was built to prevent the vast majority of urban chemical and rubbish run off from getting into the river- fertilizers, poisons, gravel etc, and apparently shopping trolleys. I understand its design is basically as one of a water filled rubbish collector.
Sounds like a huge job to clean it up…

You will be pleased to know that yes, I am attending the TCC meetings and “engaging” with members. If you follow my recent posts you will see as such. I congratulate the TCC and its efforts to clean up Lake Tuggers, especially the work of one member, Glennys, whom I have seen in action. It is the president who needs to work on his management of meetings.

In one of your previous posts DD, you raised concerns about the style of the chair of TCC from your political friends. Are you now going to engage with the volunteers and not vilify them?
After attending a meeting of the TCC do you retract your comments about the volunteer executive and think they are advocating the Tuggeranong issues.

RA posters are quick to label community council as NIMBYs but they should attend meetings so they know what issues the CCs are addressing.

Lake Tuggeranong is an issue for the residents and is trying to be addressed by TCC as can be seen by their recent efforts to clean it up.
