JTA reports that the Israeli Ambassador to Australia, Naftali Tamir, departed this week, six month earlier than expected. Tamir’s tenure was in shadow after being quoted in Israel’s daily newspaper Ha’aretz last year making a supposed racist comment which he later denied.

Tamir has been replaced by Yuval Rotem.

you know maybe he denied it because he did say it. Just a possibility.

What an idiot. Even if he retracted or denied it, such things shouldn’t be said by people in these sort of positions. And considering Israel’s situation with regard to Jewish history and its current position with its neighbours, I wouldn’t have expected a Jew to make a racist comment like that.

Good riddance.
