nature strips

Given the debate this week about parking on nature strips I thought you might like this photo, taken around 9:30 this morning, near the Yarralumla shops on the corner of Bentham and Hutchins St (There were other cars parked on nature strips nearby but I thought that this one was particularly funny).

I’m sure that TAMS have an exemption to park on nature strips but I couldn’t see any workers.

Ask any person driving a ACT gov plated vehicle and they will tell you they are ‘exempt’ from parking rules (unless the vehicle is in a dangerous location).

Absolute rubbish, I’ve known several TAMS employees using government cars who’ve been in the wrong (eg one stayed too long in a loading zone) and have had to pay the fine out of their own pocket.

Do as I say….not as I do.

I don’t know where you get that from? I am pretty sure cars with ACT Govt plates are subject to the same rules as anyone else. Except that they can park in “permit only” zones at government buildings. A ‘road patrol’ car may have a different set of rules though.
