Due to a Easter-long bender in Sydney I miserably failed to promote a fundraiser for Centrepiece Theatre. So in an effort to make up for it here’s the poster for their current production running at The Street.

Tartuffe by Moliere in Canberra 06

Now, for those of you who don’t know a lot about 17th century french theatre, I’ll let you in on a little secret. Moliere, at least in modern translation, is seriously, side-splittingly funny stuff and directed by Jordan Best I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that, even if you don’t normally “do theatre”, you will really enjoy this.

So give it a go and surprise the special person in your life.

‘Artistes’ or ‘thesps’ will do, Big Jim.

I should probably say actors instead of performers. Too many musicals for James.

Great bunch of performers too.

What was the fundraiser? Hope it went well.

It was worse. Corneille and Racine too. Somewhere in there was the famous line: “Merde et desespoir!”
-Just as the arch-villain realised he was going to get his just desserts…

Well I sympathise, My high school french never got so far as having to read archaic playwrights.

I was lucky enough to be dragged to a production at ANU a couple of years ago, by my girlfriend of the time, and was astonished, I honestly hadn’t realised that theatre could be so funny. (and yes I’m familiar with stoppard and williamson who I think are both very funny)

Thank god it’s going to be in translation. We had to read all his stuff in French, at school. Maybe now I’ll get to understand it…
