As reported in The Canberra Times, 20/8/o6

Taxi driver Mohammad Hussain has quit his nightshift taxi run due to the safety issue still to be addressed.

After 20 attacks and threats in 6 months its time to give the shift away.

How bad is it out there at night?

Whilst there is another Cab issue in the news at the moment (and it gets more coverage) I would expect driver safety to be more prominent than some booking system shortcomings.

He looks like he’d know a fair bit about about ball tampering too!

As for the “booking system shortcomings”, here’s a little “hack” I discovered – press 9 while the awful robot is talking and you’ll get a human.

There you go. Don’t all do it at once, now, otherwise we’ll just get engaged tones (=

Coming from my previous employment at the base, I can categorically state that this particular driver is nothing but a publicity hound after attention – the only trouble I have ever seen him have on night shift has been created in his head. This is not to say there isn’t a safety issue – there is, and has been for many years. Unfortunately for Mr Hussein, the best way to avoid trouble is people skills, which he lacks in spades. BTW, don’t feel too sorry for him, his shift change would very likely be more the result of him now leasing his own taxi rather than driving for someone else as he did in the past.
