The Australian Education Union (AEU) has released a flyer as part of their community campaign for better investment in ACT public education. It reads in part:
All teachers and school leaders deserve salary parity with NSW to ensure ACT public school teacher salaries remain competitive. The Government offer of 9 September will still leave school leader salaries and casual relief rates behind those in NSW. School leaders will continue to be out of pocket by thousands of dollars per year. Casual relief teacher rates will still be $21 per day behind NSW which does not address the supply issues experienced in ACT schools. The 9 September offer for 2.5% salary increases in the second and third years will not maintain competitiveness with other states and does not recognise the cost of living pressures in the ACT.
