Teddy Bears get to stay

The Courier Mail is reporting this morning that ACT Government have relented on their decision to turf out a Child Care Centre from the same building as ESA in Curtin.

There are several things that to me seem out of whack in this whole sad story. Firstly, why would a Child Care Centre be moved as it was rated as a low risk terrorist target, rather than moving ESA out of a suburb thus reducing the risk to the citizenry of Curtin as a whole rather than just the kiddies who pop into Teddy Bears.

Secondly, if the Government is kicking out the Child Care Centre, out of what used to be a school, what assistance is being provided to not only Teddy Bears, but to the community in general in lieu of the fact that said Child Care Centre is being moved? Is the Government helping them find or fund a new centre, or just shifting them and leaving them in the dark?

So the announcement did happen a few weeks ago…I just thought it was AAP being slow…ministers move in mysterious ways

The timing is rather mysterious — RA covered the announcement when it came three weeks ago here.

Also mysterious is why Vicki Dunne’s put out a media release today about the matter, saying it’s just another example of the government’s ministers being incompetent and not knowing what’s going on in their departments (the release is also here for unknown reasons).

Why did she feel the need for this new release after already having put out this one, also reprimanding Hargreaves, when it was still a current issue?

The decision to boot them was made weeks ago, but i suspect that there was some back room head kicking to have decision over turned, and to give TB’s a bit of time rather than just shutting down a business that carries some importance to the immediate community

I saw that story on AAP on Saturday afternoon and found it odd…wasn’t that announcement made weeks ago? Or did I just imagine it?
