Oh wow….you want to come and personally insult me over the possibility that the government would have earnt a slightly larger amount of interest on the amount if it was paid entirely up front as opposed to over a longer period of time? You are talking about a very small amount here once you factor in inflation against the interest rate. You may as well also then mention that the person who pays their fine straight away gets a “lesser” fine than the person who pays it on the 28th day after they get fined. Sheesh!

If you want to make a coherent argument while criticising the ability to pay a fine over a longer period, perhaps you would have suggested that they’d get to serve their sentence as weekend detention over a period 3.5 times longer, for the same total number of days as full time imprisonment.

Yep, unfortunately that’s what happened.
They explained they were not being able to run a partial plate when I was missing two out of six characters- I showed them the weapon they’d attacked me with and after further conversation wound up, I left without a resolution or making a report.
Also worth noting I was riding a bike and was wearing a cannon-ball helmet which saved me from most of the skull kicking, pretty much saved my brain and possibly my life. All this was explained to the Officers and it unfortunately went by the wayside.
I’ve no ongoing issue with the fact that I couldn’t take it further, but I am hopeful it’s the last time these knobs tried to rob anyone.

Not only were the attackers clearly POS’ i consider the attitude of the cop disgraceful.What would it take for them to chase this up? Does one need to be someone of importance or one of the boys? Not good enough!

I did this at the back of Charny shops one day about five- six years ago. Three kids (teens) asked me for my wallet. I laughed and said, ‘f*ck off’.

They asked again, rather more threatening. No point discussing the situation so I belted the guy closest to me. He dropped like a stone. The others ran like they were being chased like a banshee, which they were, me, and I was mightly pissed off. Couldn’t catch them though.

Would I do it again? Dunno. But at this stage I was so affronted by the nerve of these kids to ask me for my wallet in broad daylight while I was doing so shopping.

You’re lucky you didnt get stabbed.

But we do know that he was 33 years old, and as Breda said – this must be key to cracking the case. Again, I think the report is a poor description of the whole saga (I’d like to know how close to Hackett this all happened).

Either way, the information that the victim has a disability is truly a terrible reflection on the nature of this crime and in the minds of most would probably augment the severity of what has otherwise been reported as a run-of-the-mill mugging involving local scum bags.

I have seen kids matching this description hanging around the Hackett shops numerous times. I think they live either in the vicinity of Madigan Street Hackett or Antill Street Watson. I think I will be putting in a call to Crimestoppers this morning…

Some consistency would be good in these reports.13-16 year olds are not ‘young men’, they’re children or as stated at the end ‘juveniles’. Still, very good descriptions; crooked teeth, chubby face ..
