Teenage Gift Drive Appeal

Have you ever had a truly disappointing special occasion? A birthday everyone forgot? A holiday where everything went wrong? Christmas that turned out to be a disaster? The memory stays with you clearly doesn’t it?

Well this is your chance to stop this Christmas from becoming one of those memories for an underprivileged teenager living in Canberra.

I am sure that you are aware that there are a multitude of Charities and churches gathering gifts for underprivileged children each year. Indeed, most of us have placed something under a giving tree at our local shopping centre or school or given to a Charity collecting for the Christmas Season.

What you may not know is that each year this fabulous show of community spirit unwittingly ignores one underprivileged section of society. Far fewer gifts are collected for Teens in the 12 – 16 year age bracket. This is easily explained: Children in this age range are notoriously difficult to buy gifts for, more so when you don’t know them personally.

What I am proposing is that you, your workplace or your social group sponsor a Christmas gift for one of these teens. For example, for $35.00 you can provide two entries to the Movies at Dendy cinemas along with a voucher for the ‘Candy Bar’. The sponsored child would then receive a Christmas card with vouchers that would allow them to join their friends, find some quiet time or even treat a family member to an outing. Donations of $2 and over are tax-deductable, depending on your personal Tax position.

Last year this gift drive raised presents for 520 teenagers, I dearly hope that the generosity of Canberra will once again provide gifts for as many individuals.

You can donate by:

Direct Bank Transfer;
Bank: Mecu
BSB: 803 140
Account: 12016295

GREAT idea Smee!
Thanks for posting. One of the great spinoffs of the RiotAct is finding out about smaller charity stuff that’s going on. Will donate a tenner.

Oh, I see, teenage girls aren’t deserving of presents. Good to know.

Pull your head out.

+1

Teens these days are far too lazy.

In my day if you wanted something you just shop-lifted it rather than rely on hand-outs.

Hmmm, my apologies people, it’s meant to say “teens”. It’s not just for boys. A proofreading error.

FFS don’t make me agree with you.
