Yeah, late response here also but Belco is our choice (I’ve been a regular there since 1990). They have done a lot of work there recently including new aircon installed last year, new screens, new ball returns and a refurbed bar, cafe and party room. The bathrooms , front counter and office have been redone also. Now they just need to get some new seating and I’ll be happy – those stools without backs on them suck!

Too late for my comments to influence your decision but thought I would mention that last I was at Belconnen (mid-December) they were in the middle of quite a large re-fit, including 30 odd new flat screen TVs and a new, if somewhat annoying, bowling ‘program’ that included animations for strikes/spares/etc. Looks like they had put a fair bit of money into it and it was quite full so I don’t think they are going anywhere anytime soon.

Queanbeyan Bowl is closed now as well, they are building homes on the land. Tuggers and Belco are both good places. As far as price goes its the same coz they are both owned by AMF.

Queanbeyan bowling is up for sale to build units – saw an ad in the CT for it the other day. You can buy all the equipment and they’ll help you set up an alley in your shed if you like.

I didn’t discover Woden had been converted into FACSIA space until I took my kids there for a bowl one time.

Belco is fine. Don’t eat the food though.

Woden Bowl closed years ago, that whole area is now office space.

Tuggeranong was my pick when I used to be a league bowler, however I haven’t been out to Belconnen for years. Queanbeyan had a somewhat charming ‘old-school’ feel about it.

But yeah, whichever one is closest – how picky is the 11yo going to be?

Woden, Belconnen and Tuggeranong. Personally, I would just go to whatever is closer. They all have shoes and crappy music to play as far as I know.

We have more than two? i only know of the one in woden and the one near the lake in belconnen. Much of a much-ness really.

I should go bowling again. Cheap (well it was last time I went) lame fun. Not bad once in a while.

That’s a trick question right?

We’re not overwhelmed with choice, exactly – kinda depends on which ones is closer – both have the same very special bowling alley feel. I’ve not quite made it to the Queanbeyan one, though – they may have better bowling alleys in NSW.

Alternatively, buy a Wii?
