A big thank you to those who provided excellent advice in regards to my (recent post).
I sent a letter asking that my fine be withdrawn because I had a very good driving record. Within two days, I received an email with the good news that my fine and loss of point would be cancelled.
I would highly recommend anyone in the same situation as me to do the same.
I am also pleased the police do offer this chance for safe drivers to be given a second chance.

Well, if you’re going to boast about getting off a speeding fine (it was 70 in a 60 zone by the way) then, surely a few comments from the peanut gallery are to be expected!
Sounds like sour grapes to me, regarding the person getting off with fine, I say good luck to you.

Or it could’ve been 75 in a 60 zone. What’s your point? Obviously it was a relatively minor infringement, otherwise leniency would not have been shown.
You may have a good driving ‘record’, doesn’t mean you don’t break traffic law, just means you haven’t been caught.
I have to agree with the others, to keep Karma points in balance the money saved on the fine should be donated. Perhaps to the QLD flood relief. You will still be saving money on your insurance so you are still ahead there.
Is that one point (singular)?
If it was only one demerit point it sounds like a very minor “infringement” of the speed limit. What was the alleged speed and what was the speed zone and what road?
Why all the negative feedback and sarcastic comments about donating the saved money? For all we know it could have been 85 in an 80 zone.
