Tharwa bridge fire 'not suspicious'

An update on the Tharwa Bridge here from the ABC

“ACT police say a fire on the Tharwa bridge south of Canberra this morning was not deliberately lit.

A police spokesman says they believe the fire started as a result of restoration work done yesterday.

So not a deliberate act of stupidity, just an accidental act of stupidity. Lucky, for a while I thought it had been a terror attack.

This most interesting thing here is the ABC’s use of inverted commas in the tittle. Do they not believe the police spokesman? Are they suggesting there is some kind of Da Vinci Code-esque conspiracy between the AFP and a band of wondering bridge burners. Do they suspect links to the notorious Canberra hedge burners?

What kind of ‘irony’ are they trying to allude to?

[ED – not code for suicide then?]

opps! Heroes indeed, not Heros.

“Burning Bridges” by the Mark Curb Congregation.

I have it on my IPOD…. and god was it difficult to find to download.

Kelly’s Heroes……. what a great movie.

Kelly’s Heros! Theme song to the movie, “all thos burning bridges” springs to mind, what a film that was.

I bet Katy wasn’t responsible in any way, shape or form.

I thought it was for legal purposes to differentiate between what they are asserting and what somebody else said.

Their assertion is that they are talking about Tharwa Bridge.

The commentary in between the ‘ to ‘ are the comments by others that have been attributed into a simple statement.

Hence in a legal defence, they’ll just say ‘but the AFP said it’, and defence closes.

You may be right…the plot thickens.

Do you mean George W Gregan?

Inverted commas or quotation marks?

Maybe the quotation marks are because they are quoting Einstein

I blame George Gregan.

Of course it’s a conspiracy – haven’t you heard of the Illiterati (based in south Tuggers)…
