That staple of the club menu, the seafood basket. Any decent ones out there?

I’ve plucked up enough courage to admit yes I like a good seafood basket.

Trouble is I keep looking for that Shangri La of seafood baskets which probably doesn’t exist.

Has anyone had one lately worthy of praising it here??

I’ve been there twice. Both times crap service, OK food but expensive price. No thanks.

I had one at the Southern Cross club on the weekend, and it was really nice. Pretty simple (two bits of beer battered flathead, 8-10 calamari rings and a couple of large prawn cutlets), but nicely cooked and tasty. 20 bucks, though, which to me is a fair bit to pay for a club meal.

Bernie’s from the Bay, in Charnwood shops, do a very tasty one in which we like to partake on a semi-regular basis. It’s a “basket for two”, though, so unless you’re a huge eater you’ll want to share it.
