The 2 Brians is a joint exhibition of photography by two friends, Brian Stewart of Yarralumla and Brian Rope of Melba. The prints will be exhibited from 1 February at The Gods Café and Bar, situated in the Arts Centre, Union Court, Australian National University, Canberra. The Gods is open Monday to Friday, 7.30am – 5pm, and on a couple of evenings each month for poetry readings and jazz nights.

Brian Stewart’s black & white images in this joint exhibition comprise street photography and scenes from France, a Norwegian fjord triptych and musicians at the 2009 Wangaratta Jazz Festival.

Brian has been an enthusiast photographer for 28 years. Currently he specialises in fine art black & white giclée prints using the piezography system pioneered by American master printer Jon Cone.

Brian’s previous exhibition was “Jazz at the Gods”, held at The Gods Café and Bar, February – April 2008, featuring a series of black & white jazz portraits taken at the popular series of monthly jazz concerts at The Gods.

Brian Rope’s images include both colour and black & white. They are varied in subject matter and include shapes, action, landscapes and silhouettes. They were mostly captured in New Zealand.

Brian has been an enthusiast photographer for 58 years. He is an active member and a past President of the Australian Photographic Society and is currently Chair of its Digital Division.

Brian is also a Past President of the Canberra Photographic Society. His photographic skills have been recognised by the Australian Photographic Society and the International Federation of Photographic Art.

Somewhat unfortunate that the editor has put up an image of Brian S’s that is not from our exhibition. Another reason to visit the exhibition and see the images that are on display! One of the very naughty boys!

Just to clarify, “Bogong River” is not part of the current exhibition. If you want to see a Canberra-region image, the two “Florence” images in Gallery 1 are from near Coppin’s Crossing, but they’re not part of “The 2 Brians @ The Gods” exhibition either. Samples of the current exhibition images are on the main page of CyberHalides (Brian S) and The 2 Brians on Flickr (Brian R).
