I think it’s a little unfair that they don’t have a residential category actually. Surely it would encourage more participation by home owners, which could only be desirable in the context of a vision for a sustainable city.

Well, if you have to spend $2.2 million to beat it that sounds like it is the best home in Canberra to me!

Thanks Granny! The winner in that category was a $2.2 million project at ANU. Does that make us the best home? 🙂

well there you go. Middy or a schooner?

Gungahlin Al’s home won Highly Commended in the Sustainable Buildings and Gardens category!

: )

There was no exclusively residential/domestic category, and the winner was a big commercial project, so he was pretty happy with that.

I’m really proud of him!

It is a common misunderstading – in fact I recall the Jaccaranda Atlas c.1970 identifying Jervis Bay as “ACT”, and nine out of ten people in Canberra would be of the same view, but it is a Territory in its own right.

I believe the misunderstanding stems from the days when the ACT and all other territories were administered by the Department of the Interior, and later Territories and Local Govt, and so on, and the fact that ACT law applies in most (all) territories. Few appear to know, for example, that the Member for Fraser also represents the good folk of Norfolk Island.

It is actually.

Jervis Bay isn’t in the ACT.
