Shame they don’t mention he was an ex-Narc (ACS)…one of the very few who were not considered (ahem) corrupt. Hence his involvement with the AFP from its conception. Nor do they mention that he was the Chief Investigator for the NCA….A/director Investigations is like being the Dep Sec or once removed.

While I don’t know much about the inner workings of the AFP, I have to say that it is a great catch! This wasn’t a guy taking the odd coffee or donut for free – this was a major importation of some serious drugs.

My guess is that he is now ‘rolling over’ in order to get a sentence reduction. He, like many others, will be spiving his little heart out, just as the other offenders wife (ex-AFP I read) is also doing. Obviously the criminal code of silence didn’t quite make it to the doors of the academy.

But to those AFP and other Police who aren’t like Standen, let me be the first to thank you for what you do and the honour in which you do it.

Though it is coming from a reasonably astute source. This is still hear say and speculative. Being an AFP officer doesn’t mean forfeiting rights to fair assessment of character or basic fair go approach. If that program went through every department in the APS, they would have enough dirt and then content to program a decade of television. Wouldn’t that be a treat. The AFP smells enough already because we love seeing people look stupid and never hesitate to pass on things like suspected but not proven corruption. Its lazy. Remember haneef? That is about as bad as it could get for an organization in need of cred. And no one has mentioned that for years. So there are a few bent cops. Wow.

Pure meth would set a buyer back a lot more.
