The wait is over! Come and indulge your senses at the launch of the new and improved M16 Artspace. Canberra’s newest cultural destination will be opened by Mr Jon Stanhope MLA, Chief Minister ACT, at 6pm on Friday 13 August.

A place to make, share and experience art, M16 at Griffith is the largest community-based visual arts facility in the ACT. The new M16 houses 28 studios, three galleries and four large workshop spaces.

The launch event will showcase the new M16 galleries with a stellar line up of Canberra’s leading creative talent:

Gallery 01 “Audible Surface” Selected studio artists from M16’s twenty-five year history. Curated by Helen Maxwell and Janice Kuczkowski. Artists: G.W.Bot, Greg Hodge, Derek O’Connor, Kensuke Todo, Elefteria Vlavianos, Savanhdary Vongpoothorn

Gallery 02 “Overflow” New video work by emerging artists

Gallery 03 “The House of Kevin” Political cartoons by David Pope, former M16 studio artist

So on Friday 13 August, paint splatter your shoes, don your favourite beret, and come celebrate a new era for art in the Nation’s capital. This is one party not to be missed!

M16 Artspace is an artist-run initiative providing visual arts infrastructure and development opportunities to artists, arts organisations and the community.
