The Auditor-General passes inspection

The Auditor-General’s office has itself been audited and the report is now available.

Considering the rubbishing the Auditor-General has had from certain Labor Ministers in recent times it’s worth repeating the opening of the executive summary:

Based on my Review, I believe that the ACT Audit Office is providing an important service in an efficient and effective manner, and the Legislative Assembly and people of the Australian Capital Territory are achieving good value from the Office’s use of the taxpayer’s dollar. It achieves this notwithstanding the relatively small size of the Office, the complexity of its role and the demands upon it.

In my view the Office has enthusiastically embraced the challenge of the tougher new auditing and quality control standards of recent years. It has invested considerable resources in ensuring it has the quality processes in place to guide its future operations.

Now how often can the same be said of anything administrated by Mr Stanhope’s crew?

I am a great fan of Phu Tam and her office. She has shone a light on many cock-ups of the Stanhope government, and unfortunately has had to take a lot of ignorant and spiteful criticism. Much of this has come from Simon Corbell, who has a lot to answer for.

Here’s a message for Corbell:

“Simple Simon, you are a d***head, always have been and probably always will be. Whenever there is an independent review that proves this, rather than shooting the messenger (often Phu Tam), how about listening to the advice being offered and learn from the experience”.

Fat chance of that, of course.

I don’t think Tu Pham would be a fan of you spelling her name incorrectly lol.

I think the Chief Minister should apologise for falsely claiming that the Auditor-General is over funded, where the review clearly states that she is not and is even bordering on being under-funded. Then he should also apologise for falsely claiming that the office is over funded because it costs more per capita than NSW, when it is also clear from the review the comparison was never valid, not accurate.

Andrew Barr should be censured for wildly and slanderously claiming that the Auditor-General made up the methodology used in the review of the Ambulance Service. The review clearly states that the findings were supported by the evidence obtained. Shooting the messenger seems to be the stanhopeless’ government’s motto these days, I hope the opposition and the greens can actually stand up to Stanhope and Barr and pass such motion.

I have noticed that both Stanhope and Barr have been absolutely dead silent on the review since the report was issued. I think they have found a messenger that they can’t try to shoot this time..

Well, that report is obviously rigged!
