The thing looks almost as high as the museum building! I was iffy about the plans for a pedestrian bridge over the Brisbane River but it turned out well and gets stunning usage levels. But this this will have a horrendous visual impact.
Ari will be lucky to get his fish all the way to the top without rogue seagulls snatching it first.

The artists impression shows an ugly straight line on match sticks. Where’s the shape? Where’s the colour? Where’s the interest?

By the looks of the artist’s impression on the website, that would probably be true.

That could be a real problem, I imagine.

According to my sources at the CYC the proposed bridge cuts off the central basin for most of their larger boats

Stairs on the Kings avenue bridge wouldn’t be ACT government either – they’d be national capital authority.

The difference is that this bridge isn’t the ACT Government, but some sort of private project.

Agreeed about the stairs, though

im amazed that they can build a new bridge for tourists but year after year they fail to install STAIRS on the kings avenue bridge so that people jogging/walking around the lake dont have to play frogger with cars coming off kings avenue and racing around towards kingston foreshore.

I note the project’s got an official poet – Peter Skrzynecki, OAM – and that’s got to be a good sign.
