Labor MLA Chris Bourke is explaining that he really thinks the ACT Budget is OK, despite the findings of the estimates committee (of which he is a member). Also Jeremy Hanson is a meanie:

Tabling the Labor member’s 233 page dissenting report today Dr Chris Bourke MLA Deputy Chair of the ACT Legislative Assembly’s Budget Estimates Committee said it showed the great features of the ACT budget and a working committee system that was marred by Mr Hanson’s chairing of the hearings.

Dr Bourke said in his tabling speech this morning, “The dissenting report shows the ACT Government is delivering a responsible budget that leads a way back to surplus”.

“At the same time, I am pleased to say, the budget advances longer term projects– for revitalizing the city and transforming Canberra – such as the City to the Lake -CapitalMetro and the University of Canberra hospital.

“Unfortunately the committee’s work was marred by the poor chairing of Mr Hanson in both the hearings and the report preparations.

“A responsible budget that….leads a way back to surplus”

Don’t insult us you idiot. In terms of revenue for ACT Govco, winter is coming, and there’ll be no surplus in the foreseeable.

Even their spin is amateurish

Truth be told, a mini-Budget might be in order here, too – but with this mob, sleeping dogs is probably the better approach.
