The Capital Cookbook 2: This Time it’s Personal will raise funds to support Ovarian Cancer Australia.
Quicksand Publishing is pleased to announce the release of The Capital Cookbook II; the second instalment of a culinary and photographic journey through Canberra’s vibrant food culture and the landscape that shapes it.
The Capital Cookbook II is a hard cover, coffee table style cookbook featuring 47 recipes from 26 of Canberra’s best chefs. With contributions from Serif Kaya- The Ottoman, James Mussillon- Courgette, Ben Willis- Aubergine, Carolyn Miller- Italian and Sons, Damien Grey- Sage and Malcolm Klose- Silo among many others; the book is a celebration of Canberra’s gourmet food landscape.
With stunning photography from around the Canberra region, regional producers, as well as features on some of the city’s favourite landmarks including the National Library, War Memorial, Arboretum and Portrait Gallery; The Capital Cookbook II is a celebration of the nation’s capital in its centenary year.
The book is also a tribute to the founder of Quicksand Publishing and Canberra business woman Zorana Grbic, who tragically lost her life to ovarian cancer in 2009. Donations from restaurants involved in the book have already amounted to over $10,000 with a further $2 from each publication sold going directly to Ovarian Cancer Research.
Head chef from Sage Dining Rooms- Damien Grey says The Capital Cookbook II captures the increasingly prevalent role of Canberra restaurants to the city’s identity, which has come a long way since the first edition of the cookbook was released in 2004.
“For a relatively small city, Canberra has a wonderful food culture, supplied by some fantastic local producers. This book reminds us that our restaurant scene is a thriving component of Canberra’s social fabric, and the food just keeps getting better. Sage is so pleased to have been able to collaborate with Quicksand Publishing on this project, while contributing to such a worthy cause. The book captures our journey with food and gives Canberra foodies the opportunity to recreate some of their favourite Canberra dishes at home”, he said.
The Capital Cookbook II will hit the shelves of all good Canberra bookshops in the first week of October, and will also be available online via www.quicksandpublishing.com.au.
To celebrate the launch of The Capital Cookbook, an open event will be held at the Terrace of the National Library of Australia at 5pm on Thursday 17 October. All media, and Canberra foodies are invited to attend.
