The Cunning of Tom Sefton, parked on the corner of London and Northbourne

I’m coming to realise that the Liberals’ Tom Sefton is a very clever operator.

This morning I was particularly impressed by his poster-ute which is parked utterly legally on the corner of London Circuit and Northbourne Avenue.

It’s highly visible to traffic in all directions thank to some artful angling of the boards.

We look forward to seeing if fights break out over this spot or if Tom’s ute leaves before election day.

Other than the sitting members, Brindabella candidates seem to be nodding heads. Standing behind their leaders, craniums bouncing inanely while looking like they’re too scared to have an opinion of their own.

save us.

Val Jeffery is not a sitting member I would have to say he has his own opinions, especially when it comes to fires

And, funnily enough, seen hide nor hair of Val yet. Is he hoping to get across the line by hoping people remember him well from the bushfires? Is he a serious candidate for the Libs?

So where is it today? I haven’t seen it in a couple of days

for those playing along at home,

the truck is on Lady Denam Drive near the GGs today

Not sure if working hard during the campaign equates to working hard in office, but im more sure of lazy during the campaign equates to lazy in office.

can anyone else name any of the other non incumbents from the liberal side?

My vote could be won by things like this, but I have also been door knocked By tom and revieved 4 letters from him, not glossy brochers with a two line messge on the back but properly written (yes mass produced) letters outlining who he is, what he is about and what people in the community are telling him.

I think this guy might be ok, he definatly know how to put the hard work in. I also will vote accross parties, not sure if I could ever bring myself to vote green, but I doe agree with above that Angie Drake is a busy little campaigner, I would much prefer her to be elected than some one like Corbell

Genuine question – would that on its own be enough to make you vote for him?

On its own, no. But as part of the bigger picture when making a decision, it might make a difference. Brand awareness has both a concious and unconsious effect. And like cbjcurtin, I give him points for trying.

And another genuine question -if you were likely to vote Liberal anyway and it’s true you know his face and name better than the leader (or anyone else in that same party), would that influence your voting order? In what way and why?

If I made a general decision to vote Liberal, yes I do think it would influence my voting order. I am much more likely to vote for someone who seems so enthusiastic then someone who I have never heard of.

Realistically my voting will probably be a convoluted order based on a mix of my like for certain policies and individuals. Usually this means a few people rate high, a couple come last, and the majority of the candidates come in the middle. His visibility (and his visibility has lead me to actually find out about him) will put him at the top of the large group in the middle.

His use of that ute over the past monh or too means I know his name and face better than the leader of his own party.

I vote on both sides of the political divide, so for me I vote for people who work hard and smart during a campaign, as I hope they will prove to be hard working smart MLAs. So people I see a lot of during a campaign:
Tom Sefton libs
Angie Drake ALP
Shane Rattenbury greens

Will get my vote, I saw a lot of Kula early in the campaign but he seems to have vanished, or he is campaigning in areas I don’t visit.

So yes visibility helps decide my vote, I also look people ip when I know their name and party and find out a little more about them.

I saw a poster for a bloke called poccock the other day I looked him up and found I don’t really have a lot in common with his policy.

I think the two major parties are very similar in a lot of ways do that’s why I can vote for personalities not parties.

Ooh, I saw that guys photo on the back of a ute so I’ll vote for him.

Once upon a time I thought mandatory voting was a good thing.

I saw the ute parked in a Floriade carpark on Sunday. Whoever is in charge of moving it is very savvy. Well done team Tom. Too bad you’re a Lib.

The same truck was at the Canberra Farmers Markets on Saturday, very smart advertising

I wonder how many drivers are distracted by the sign rather than focusing on the pedestrian crossing nearby.

I also wonder how many drivers get detracted by street signs which are much smaller and harder to read. Mooo_cow is there anything you wouldn’t complain about you banana

I guess the three university degrees he has, plus the skills learned serving as a commando in Afganistan have made him a smart operator.

I think he is doubly smart as not only did he get all the passing traffic to see his sign today, but he also got posted on the most visited most reliable Canberra blog/website.

Not many, if any?

How many dudes you know got the skills to go in and rock a show like this?

The exact same number as should have their licenses revoked for being incompetent and dangerous drivers.

Tom Sefton starts parking legally.

AAaaaaaaaaaaaand it’s gone.

Nice to see them doing some legal advertising for a change.
