[First filed: February 11, 2009 @ 09:56]

In the recent disussion on Southside Domino’s Pizza FeNc3y made a comment which caught my attention:

I’ve refused to use any Domino’s since I took photo’s of one of their drivers in uniform, letting his mates “car surf” on the roof of a Dominos vehicle at Pine Island.

I reported it to Domino’s and had no reply – they didn’t even want to see the pics.

But I thought we might like to see the pics and FeNc3y has kindly sent them in.

UPDATE: The EXIF data in the original photos suggests they were taken at 3.35pm on 18 January 2009.

Yeah, but given the larger public are so often ridiculed by TT/ACA do they actually watch? And, as mentioned earlier, are they large from eating too much Dominos?

Hey, i think both those programs are horrid tripe full of swines not fit to call themselves reporters, but they do sometimes serve a purpose. If no one is going to take responsibility or do something about these morons i think the larger public should know about it.

And at the mention of those two programs I just……. realised that I may require their assistance with some PR at some stage and will now shut up jam that comment back down my throat…

Off topic: there are damn good reasons for NOT having an edit function, and I think that if you go do a search on that you might find some discssion on that. I’m not interested enough to look myself!

Doesn’t excuse the moderate…. editor’s……. oh, whatever.

Now, I took Skid’s link and posted a feedback to Domino’s asking them to respond to me by email. So when the phone range for the 87th time yesterday and it was Domino’s PR or Oddnadatta store responding to my feedback, I politely invite them to read my feedback form and respond appropriately. Haven’t checked that account today but as of late last night/early this morning: nuttin’.

You’d be surprised, Peter. I engaged their staff on a local matter on a non-pizza-related issue about their store’s communication/interface with the public (Dickson if I recall properly) and they were quite interested, conducive to listening and passing on the message.

Can’t recall if I ever checked out whether they’d resolved it or not. I tend to avoid the mass-produced pizzas these days in favour of the cafe/restaurant/bistro versions. This chicken one I’ve just polished off was potentially great (though it should have had ‘pineapple’ somewhere in the slightly misleading title. There’s a mound of pineapple now piled up on an otherwise empty plate).

as if the canberra locals would call you back… the call probably got pushed to the only store not busy… oodnadatta is like that. amazed that you spelt it wrong. even when there isn’t a domino’s out there.

It is unAustralain to bludge of others like sitting in hospital for being a dickhead and then a disability pension when this money could actually help the real needy.

You mean like Dexi?

I avoid buying Domino’s pizza at all costs. I don’t want to see my $$ go into the pockets of Domino’s founder, a strong right-wing Catholic by the name of Tom Monaghan, whose views have much in common with Mel Gibson’s loopy father.

“someone who may actually need it and then we pay for his recovery for being a complete dickhead.
It is unAustralain to bludge of others like sitting in hospital for being a dickhead and then a disability pension when this money could actually help the real needy.”

Are football injuries unAstralian?

Holden Caulfield9:42 am 12 Feb 09

Bludging. Clowning around. Sponging welfare cash. How much more Australian can you get, haha.

Johnboy, my asking for an edit function had a much better reason than this and you went ballistic!

I demand vengeance! I want vengeance!

It is unaustralian to dob someone in but

when the knumb nuts on the roof does his swan dive onto the ground an gets a trip to hospital and a bed, this idiot will take the bed from someone who may actually need it and then we pay for his recovery for being a complete dickhead.

It is unAustralain to bludge of others like sitting in hospital for being a dickhead and then a disability pension when this money could actually help the real needy.

Given the quality of their product, I don’t think Domino’s gives a toss about their reputation at all…

stereo henry9:04 am 12 Feb 09

hahahahahahahah!

Sorry,

Not that these kids working for Domino’s give a toss about the reputation of their employer.

I can’t believe that some people in company cars, or worse – small business operators advertising their business on their work vehicle, drive around like idiots.

Don’t they realise that every person they cut off, pull out in front of, hold up, or go speeding past is likely to be one less customer that might use their services.

I’m sure management at National and ACT level are all ears now (as per #4)… These shots will go very nicely in any OH&S presentation… (as will the story that unfolds over the next few days). Welcome to “citizen-policing” Domino’s…

Well done on posting/supplying these FeNc3y…

From the time I spent at Domino’s, I believe it is normally more “senior” (as in rank) members that get to drive the mobile billboards… pleb drivers use their own cars (sometimes with extra pay for the rooftop signs).

Edit function, johnboy. We need an edit function 😉

However, moderation noted.

I’m sure you could have expressed that without resorting to personal abuse.

Please do so in future.

“I reckon it’s unAustralian to dob people in like that, “

I-filed, you’re a twat.

These idiots were in a public place, there were other people around. FeNc3y has stated that there were other families present as well as his own. So as well as seriously endangering their own lives, they were very much in a position to hurt someone else.

“It’s unAustralian to dob people in” is the refuge of the gutless turd who doesn’t have the balls to take responsibility for, and cop the consequences of, their own actions.

FeNc3y said :

I won’t be using Domino’s based on the poor management shown – if they react to this situation with such a carefree attitude I dont want to know what their attitude towards things like food hygiene are.

For sure! I’m with ya on that one…
And especially if they can’t identify which store had the vehicle, isn’t that even poorer upper management.

If they really did value safe driving as it states on the back of the car – then wouldn’t they actually care… Obviously it’s a big sham and they just want to make it seem that way, just like they want you to believe their hygiene is as good as the values of driving…
If upper management don’t care then you could only imagine how store management care – really disgraceful really.

To the person who said that maybe they were doing it between split shifts – doesn’t matter you are still representing the company by being in the company car in uniform. You don’t see posties chucking doughnuts on lunchbreak or the firebrigade washing down theyre boat at home while theyre on break… Plus it’s still illegal if theyre on break or not. It would be partly a different matter if it was on private propert – but it wasn’t it was in a public carpark, open to the public.

What if that car was to hit someone and drive off in a hit and run – would the company then decide no one had the car and they weren’t in fault…. Maybe they use the same values and not care.

GottaLoveCanberra9:03 pm 11 Feb 09

“I reckon it’s unAustralian to dob people in like that, “

It’s unAustralian to say unAustralian. It’s a keyword spammed mercilessly by ACA and TT and it drives me up the wall every time I hear it.

Well Todd Carney had to get a job somewhere after he couldn’t get a new playing contract…

it’s all fun until someone flies off the car and ends up as roadkill..

Perhaps more importantly, these are not hardened criminals and will like as not confess if presented with the evidence available.

As far as digital forensics and courts are concerned, you would be lucky to get by with the EXIF data. You are much better off if you have a camera that actually stamps the time / date onto the image (like some of the older film cameras before the digital age). This is because EXIF data can be easily modified. You are still stuffed if the camera has the wrong date. If you can back it up with the filesystems file creation / modified dates then you are in a much better position – but that’s a subject for another discussion.

Adding date and time to the image can easily be done post-production. Manipulating an existing date/time would only be slightly more difficult than changing the EXIF data, or filesystem creation time.

All of this is largely irrelevant. Dominoes drivers do not switch cars every few minutes and it’s easy enough to use other clues such as shadows and light levels if it was that important.

^^^
Check their Facebook status?

I reckon it’s unAustralian to dob people in like that, FeNc3y. Whinge all you like, but official dobbing of what didn’t present any danger to the public is a bit scary. What do you do when you know a colleague has chucked a sickie?

Bloody hopeless, will be interesting to see the aftermath though.

I would hate to see what they do with my Pizza. Can’t beat the PLAKA in Mawson for pizza 🙂

The EXIF data is correct and 10 people from my family and two other families that were also within viewing distance can verify the details.

Domino’s head office would also have a date stamp of when I send in the feedback form via their website – I sent it that afternoon.

@ #66 – I was trying to say that I won’t be using Domino’s based on the poor management shown – if they react to this situation with such a carefree attitude I dont want to know what their attitude towards things like food hygiene are.

actually, i-filed, in a public car park, they are not ‘off road’; so this practice would be illegal (if it were proved they were moving)

It’s all a cunning Viral 🙂

What on Earth has some employees car surfing got to do with whether a customer should buy/eat their pizzas? Jeez lighten up! What if they were on a long break between shifts, and the annoyance of a split shift has been negotiated away with use of the car in between? They’re off the road – is what they’re doing actually illegal offroad?

Holden Caulfield4:58 pm 11 Feb 09

EXIF data probably won’t stand up in court for exactly that reason. I wonder if the police can issue an infringement notice if they don’t know when the offence took place?

I think anyone would have a hard enough job proving the car was actually moving, if these pictures are the only evidence. Surely sunbaking on a company car in a car park is not illegal?

I agree that the circumstantial evidence is compelling, but then, in all probability, so too is the EXIF data.

proofpositive4:55 pm 11 Feb 09

Awww don’t pick on the poor guys. Apparently car surfing is a common Dominos practice… see 5 seconds into this commercial as Manny Toppins attempts to surf a scooter.

As Paris Hilton would agree, any press is good press. This is really free advertising for Domino’s. So I’m sure the management will be happy to let it ride as long as possible. I mean, you’re seen the ad’s FFK! 🙂

I thought these boys were idiots to keep going on with the joy ride seeings that they could see us taking pics of them. Just a shame the police had not come down 20 minutes earlier then they did that would have made no topped my day.

I seem to recall that there are provisions for company vehicle rego’s, whereby if the company cannot identify who was driving at the time an offence was committed, the company is charged many times the usual fine.

Who the f**k would find the idea of 8 mystery meats appetising? Probably the likes of Todd Carney and Martin Bryant!

If Dominos allow there staff to act in illegal ways then I don’t want to know what’s in their meat…

Well ok probably not talking pet food here (just), I shouldn’t say by-products should I?, non-specific cured meat, I’ll go with that..
You realise then they are saying that they serve shredded cooked!

Hells_Bells741:54 pm 11 Feb 09

Yeh, that’s about what I’d figured it to be myself, but the staff are obviously being told in Florey to say it’s a chicken product. I can’t see why they bothered, it’s a pathetic attempt at making 8 meats outta 1 or 2 almost meat by-products… GROSS~!~

This is why I find myself getting cheese lovers the most. Oh I know I should get a pizza oven, one more meat creation from them and that’s it lol.

LOL, I enjoyed that Duke, cheers! 🙂

Hells_Bells741:24 pm 11 Feb 09

They ruined a perfectly great Mexican pizza with the shit!

Hells_Bells741:22 pm 11 Feb 09

I asked my daughter who works at Dominos the other night what was this damn shredded cotto as I’ve quietly wondered since they sold it… She said chicken, I said, chicken no way, she asked the girl next to her who agreed wholeheartedly.

Chicken? I was thinking ham at best.

Holden Caulfield said :

Now we know where shredded cotto comes from.

ROFL, I’d always wondered about that…

Some people take sport deadly seriously, but no business can afford to have such a clearly marked & branded car doing something idiotic at #30 and #15 when you Google for them (internationally and Australian only rank results respectively).

But if nothing else this story will give these car surfers mad bragging rights. Getting sacked from a crappy minimum wage job is almost a right of passage and i’m all for going out in a big way.

Possible fines/arrest is another story.

No wonder why they can not guarantee a delivery time as they can not guarantee how the pizza is going to be delivered… This is beautiful and rare footage that needs to laughed at…. Over and over again!

I think this time we’d all have to admit we’re doing this for sport. lol

Seriously, it looks right up Today Tonight’s alley. They could fill a whole episode with this stuff. You’ve got a chance to bag out teenagers, P platers and fat people all in the one story, it’s a producers dream!
