The end is nigh for the killer dogs of Fisher

The Canberra Times reports that the reign of terror of Stripe and Kayla (Staffie-Shepherd crosses) in South Canberra is coming to a sad end as the long sleep beckons:

Mira and Aaron Sarlija last week lost their second appeal against a decision not to issue them dangerous dog licences for their beloved Stripe and Kayla. The seven-year-old Staffordshire German-Shepherd crosses were linked to the deaths of four animals – three cats and a dog – in Fisher in the space of three months.

The decision paves the way for Domestic Animal Services to put the pair down. But they remain in the care of authorities, as their owners have several weeks to lodge an appeal in the ACT Supreme Court.

When the senior member upheld the decision not to issue a licence, Mira Sarlija launched into an abusive tirade, threatening to ”burn down the houses and smash the cars” of the people who complained.
Ms Lennard said her outburst was unacceptable and ”served only to underline and confirm [the tribunal’s] assessment of her reliability”.

A keen eyed reader has pointed out that Aaron Sarlija is no stranger to the courts.

Does anyone know where in Fisher this has occurred? I think I remember seeing Rosebery St mentioned, I assume the bottom end (where friends of ours live!)? White Pages and Google weren’t much of a help.

Maranboy Street side.

If there is an appeal to the Supreme Court, it will be interesting to see whether our esteemed Justices extend human rights to animal rights and free these poor, misunderstood beasts to carry on as before…

Please tell me you’re not advocating the idea that we extend human rights to animals. And if you are, please consider the inherent contradiction in the idea.

Cory Bernardi appears to have some interesting ideas on the relationship (pun intended) between human and animal rights and the concept of consent

Amazing. It is not enough that people have their beloved pets killed by dangerous dogs, they are then threatened with having their houses burned down for having the audacity to complain.

And the owners?

This is depressing all round. I wonder if the people who lost much loved family pets are entitled to any form of compensation from these low lifes.

Yep, unfortunately the dogs will pay the ultimate price because of the idiot owners 🙁

DOGS DON’T KILL PEOPLE OWNERS DO lol

Maybe if you kept your dogs in the yard and didn’t teach them to be savages then people wouldn’t have had to complain when your poorly trained mongerals killed other animals.

How does a bogans mind come to such conclusions? It’s your own fault, morons.
I have had normal bull terriers and staffys and trained them properly and all they wanted to do was pay with other dogs, not kill them.

What a load of rubbish. The owners, I mean.

Who in Canberra would like to live next to a person who threatens to burn your house down because you complain about having your pets killed by their savage mongrels.

These people are imbeciles, and nasty ones at that. Euthanasia seems like the best option for them and their dogs.

“threatening to ”burn down the houses and smash the cars” of the people who complained” … clearly the dogs never had a chance to be normal, protective, family dogs.

Animals raised by lesser animals ..

The dogs will be put down.

What the hell put them all down, problem solved!
