The ever expanding Moose?

mooseheads

I’m old enough to have enjoyed Saturday nights in Mooseheads when it was just a dinky little ground floor pub smaller than the Phoenix with bands playing in the corner and people hanging from the rafters on busy nights.

From those humble beginnings it was a rapid expansion to “four floors of whores”, followed by fire and a Phoenix-like rising from the ashes.

Now a snout has sent word they’re going to be getting much bigger:

Just as a follow up to the Fletcher Jones building piece a few months ago, I just found out that Mooseheads have bought the sight for $2.2M.

Looks like they’ll be able to fit twice as many douchebags in.

I wonder if they’ll need twice the amount of coppers out the front too???

Good luck to them, they’re providing something the market just can’t seem to get enough of.

Fixed.

I played in a cricket team sponsored by Mooseheads when it was a tiny little pub, like JB said, smaller than the Phoenix. It was cosy little joint back in those days….

ANU? I think I still have my free mooseheads Tshirt somewhere. Doesnt fit anymore

Cheap beer though. And according to the Canberra Times, the Moose won’t be expanding, more likely a fast food joint

Bland, plastic, pretend pub, crappy beers, poor music and bland menu, you’ll see more life in a tramp’s vest, as exciting as watching milk curdle, a venue just perfect for Canebrra.

Mooseheads has become an institution.

For every Canberran or out of state visitor, a visit to Mooseheads at least once in a life time is a must. Definitely not my personal preference for a night out but I hope the Mooseheads tradition lives on.

Good for them.

What about old enough to remember it as JD’s?

Broke my watch once, literally hanging from the rafters in the Moose.
