The fuzz called in over ANU association funds

News has come to light about an “incident” involving the theft of student association funds at ANU. A joint statement from ANU Students’ Association and ANU Student Media has stated the matter has been referred to Police for investigation but offered no further comment.

The Canberra Times though is reporting an amount up to $60,000 has been stolen from the finances of ANUSM, ANUSA and a sporting organisation by a former undergraduate student (who has denied the allegations). The amount was apparently taken over an extended period of time which raises serious questions about accounting transparency.

No doubt this will be greeted with glee by opponents of the recently introduced SSAF.

I wondered how long this little gem would take to surface………

Pathetic bunch of individuals – sack the bloody lot of them, and put some adults in charge of the money. Too many of them seem to be only interested in themselves, rather than actually representing their fellow students.

I should probably clarify my reference to adults; I mean Finance and Business Services at the ANU – then they can divie the money out to the SA and monitor that it is being use honestly.

Sorry, just to be clear: are you suggesting the HSU take over the ANUSA books? or are you suggesting the ANU Undergraduate referred-to apply for one of the recently-vacated positions at the HSU?

Neither.

The post I replied to said: “…put some adults in charge of the money.”

Obviously things like the HSU affair all the way back to the ALP trying to gain election campaign funds from Iraqi officials prove that ethics and honesty don’t relate to age or experience.

Remind me – who was in charge when the AWB and APS employees gave Saddam Hussain $290 million, defrauded numerous governments as well as the UN and the Australian taxpayer, breached UN sanctions, and participated in bribery, extortion, kickbacks, fraud, and illegal cover-ups of all the above?

Obviously, blowing a few $$$ on tarts is waaaaaay more serious than international corruption running rampant at the heart of a Liberal government.

With all those unfortunate sounding acronyms being bandied about they sound like a bunch of arseholes…
