The Chiefly Stanhope has announced that the ACT Government has acquired for itself an architect, one Alastair Swayn:
“In a city with a global reputation for its strength and quality of design, there has been a growing conversation about the need for a dedicated ACT Government Architect,” Mr Stanhope said. “Someone with vision and expertise, to advise the Government, inspire industry and to generate a desire for excellence.
“I am pleased that local Canberra architect, Alastair Swayn has accepted this important appointment. He is amongst the nation’s leaders in sustainable design and his expertise in this area will be invaluable in his new advisory role.
“The new position has been made possible because a unique partnership between the ACT Government and the University of Canberra, which also sees Alastair Swayn appointed as a Professorial Fellow at the University of Canberra. As a Professorial Fellow he will share his skills and expertise with the next generation of local architects.”
A shame they didn’t do this before the latest round of construction.
