The Great Ainslie Topiary Hedge

The occupant of the house at the intersection of Officer and Tyson in Ainslie has been very busy.

A very ordinary hedge has been transformed into a topographic wonder.

I guess when you’ve got a hedge of such thick and lush qualities it’s a shame to waste it.

But they weren’t satisfied with that.

Having sculpted it masterfully they felt the need to add a light show for night time enjoyment.

Bravo!

If you look at Google Maps’ satellite image closely enough you can see the hedge from above. You do have to squint a little, though 🙂

love it

Actually this is what you get when you clip the forgotten hedge.

Cute though.

There should be a gardening award given to the owners of that hedge.

It’s brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

So much nicer than the usual box shape or, worse still, the forgotten hedge.

No, no Johnboy, the hedge has been like that for many years – cared for by its loving owners. The lights go up when there’s a party on (no breach of xmas etiquette!!)

Lights up before the 1st of December, how very dare they!

I bet these rebels turn their heater on before ANZAC Day and plant their tomatoes before Melbourne Cup Day as well!

I live on Tyson and that hedge has been sculpted like that for as long as I can remember. The lights go up every year around this time as well. It is indeed wonderful.

Inneresting. It must have gotten shaggy before its most recent trim then.

This is a work of art!
