Roads ACT Director Tony Gill is explaining that with the Spofforth Street speed pillows directing traffic every other way in Holt he’s going to try and figure out what’s going on there:

The ACT Government recently completed a post-construction evaluation of the effectiveness of the speed cushions on Spofforth Street in Holt, Director, Roads ACT, Tony Gill, said today.

“The evaluation showed that while the primary objective of reducing the speed on Spofforth Street was achieved, residents expressed concerns about possible traffic impacts on nearby streets,” Mr Gill said.

“Following this feedback from the community, the ACT Government will now assess the traffic conditions on Messenger Street, Trickett Street and Beaurepaire Crescent in Holt.”

CARDNO has been commissioned to undertake this study with a view to improve the safety and amenity of residents on these streets. This study will include a technical component analysing speed, volume and crash data, as well as seek the views of residents of Holt and Macgregor.

“A questionnaire will be sent to residents of Holt and Macgregor this week. It will also be available via the ACT Government’s Time to Talk website.”

Why do people need to save every nanosecond while driving?

Goes to state of mind, your honour.

Might be useful if the littleberry reads this thread, and learns early in her career how the electorate views the feathering of one’s own nest.

With them being located at the ass end of holt and being such a pain in the ass, I propose we call the Hemorrhoids of Holt. Oddly fitting seeing as Berry is another name for an inflamed hemorrhoid.

Just seems to work real well……….Might even give Wayne a knickname and call him “Dangles” from now on.

I recon they will berry bump the other streets as well

“Following this feedback from the community, the ACT Government will now assess the traffic conditions on Messenger Street, Trickett Street and Beaurepaire Crescent in Holt.”

I suggest traffic pillows for all of them!

“Mr Gill said that once treatment options are developed the community will be consulted again to provide comments on any potential traffic calming measures”

Honest to god, I don’t even know where to start with this.

It would seem that Mr Gill has pre-empted the results, and is already assuming that ‘treatment options’ will be necessary. Surely the development of any of these options would happen at the conclusion of the study?

“…residents expressed concerns about possible traffic impacts on nearby streets”

‘Possible’ traffic impacts?? In the latest report on the effect of these speed cushions on Spofforth, it was clearly stated that traffic volumes on these nearby streets had risen. Where’s the ‘possible’ in that? I’m pretty sure that plenty of residents would have been been expressing concerns about real traffic impacts on their street.

I think what we’re really seeing here is that pandering to one street with a prolific letter writer (or, as the case may be, the inside running to those who matter…) can end up affecting much of a suburb, as well as the surrounding suburbs. Screw up one street, and you end up screwing all those around it.

Oh, and FWIW, in all the years I’ve been using Spofforth St, I’ve not once seen a marked police car on it. Plenty of speed vans though…

….Feel sorry for the no. 44 bus that has to traverse that road twice every hour..

Wow, that is slow. Half an hour to get along Spofforth Street… those bumps are super effective.

Remove at least 8 of the Berry humps and I might, just might reconsider using that road again..Feel sorry for the no. 44 bus that has to traverse that road twice every hour..

Why do people need to save every nanosecond while driving?

Those dreaded Berry humps.

Now the littleberry has been voted in where will Berry humps strike next????????
