The Irish Echo brings word of Canberra’s own Irish Club (apparently known to us as “The Iro”) making some money after years of losses:

The AGM heard that the club has reported a profit of $76,191 for the financial year.

“This is fantastic result in these difficult financial times,” said outgoing president, Patrick Harris.

“To put this in context, the club has recorded a combined loss of $645,089 for the financial years 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10.”

They’ve got slots there, right? To lose money even once – let alone three years running – the ineptitude must be absolutely galactic

Maybe Alan Joyce is giving them advice?
