The ABC brings word Sandor Earl is joining the club’s extensive list of shame:

The NRL has handed Canberra’s Sandor Earl an infraction notice and a provisional suspension following his admission to the use and trafficking of a peptide.

The sanction follows an Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency (ASADA) investigation, in which Earl admitted to the use and trafficking of peptide CJC 1295.

Earl, 23, has accepted the immediate provisional suspension and he will be given the opportunity to challenge the charges at a hearing.

The NRL has not confirmed the length of the sanction Earl could ultimately face but did indicate he may face a life ban or at least four years out of the game relating to the trafficking charge/

The NRL’s statement is also available:

The NRL today issued Canberra player Sandor Earl with an Infraction Notice and he has accepted an immediate provisional suspension for breaches of the Leagues Anti-Doping Policy.

The provisional suspension follows evidence relating to Mr Earl obtained by the NRL relating to the use and trafficking of the peptide CJC 1295 and other prohibited substances.

Sandor Earl has agreed to continue to assist with the investigation and is seeking to obtain the benefit of substantial assistance provisions.

NRL Chief Executive Mr Dave Smith said today that the news is a clear reminder of the significance of ASADA’s ongoing investigations.

What else can go wrong?

If he was trafficking and he’s rolling over there could be a struggle to get a starting XIII on the pitch.

UPDATE: This from a very surprised club:

The Canberra Raiders have been made aware by the NRL of allegations made against one of their players Sandor Earl.

“The club understands the allegations made against Sandor Earl relate to a time prior to his arrival at the club,” Said Raiders CEO Don Furner.

The club has only learned about the allegations this afternoon and will wait to be fully briefed on the matter before making any further comment on the issue.

Is it a criminal offence to traffic in peptides? If so, I hope he spends some quality time sharing a cell with a well endowed sexual predator who cares lite about reputations

David Grant and Peter Jackson must be spinning in their graves.

What I want to know is who is the clown who signs these boys up? ARL is a close knit community and its not hard to get the low-down on prospective player and have knowledge of the skeloton(s) in their closet.

Get professional Raiders management! if you want true professional players then get professional yourselves.

Theres infraction to much friction!
Sorry, but it is Friday!

Looks like this is the first of many scalps to come. There’ll be many players nervously anticipating the dreaded phone call one would think.
