The lost community services laptop

The ABC has a piece on fear and loathing surrounding a Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services employee breaking the rules and taking home personal data on a laptop which was then stolen.

DHCS are swearing blind that there was nothing in the data usable for identity theft. But then they’d have sworn blind their employees weren’t taking the data home too.

One has to wonder just how many protocol breaches happen for every burgled laptop?

Hahahaha,
When my son was about 17yo he was pullled up by detectives who wanted to search him etc (just on the ACT border) They stopped at a bus shelter and the D’s left their book/folder on the bus shelter seat after all was done…
My son bought the D’s book/folder home.
I got one brash call about my 17yo son drinking,,,,,then a while later a “suck up my ass” call about if my son knew where the book was!!!
Seems they take info and leave it wherever they want…..and not ALL makes it to the news…

Sigh, he/she will probably get a slap on a wrist.

I wish the thief would upload a complete image of the hard drive onto the internet so we could prove DHCS wrong.

All liars, I know from experience with dealing with that department!

We’ve heard the same thing – but nowhere has anyone been game enough to put it in print before.

All liars, I know from experience with dealing with that department!

And they still don’t have any decent solution for fresh fruit and veg.

if only public service departments decided that they could possibly allow their employees to log in from home without it dooming the world, then no one would need to store info on a laptop HD.
