It is with great excitement we announce that the December 2012 Mully Cup has been won by Freddy Vegan who was more outraged than everyone else by kangaroo on the menu at Tidbinbilla.

The Mully Cup is awarded monthly to the entity stimulating the most comment on this website. It is named in memory (if not in honour) of Justin Mully Williams who both improved our world, and set the record for comments, in his departure.

For those unfamiliar with the Mully Cup we did record its creation and here’s a picture of the finished Mully:

Freddy’s probably a Jain. They’re vegans who walk around naked and carry little brushes with them, which they use to brush off any places on which they’re going to sit so that no bugs or ants or bacteria are killed by their cheeks when they sit down.

Only true for Digambara ascetics. The Digambara laity and the Svetambara wear clothes.

😀 Thanks for that.

And I don’t hate Freddy – I find him endlessly amusing.

What an honour, many thanks to all my haters, so basically the whole readership.

Well not the whole readership. I’d never heard of you until now.

I’d like to join the ranks of non FV haters. Hate is emotionally draining, and I reserve it for a deserving few.

I don’t have much regard for the opinions he expressed in the OP, but they were interesting opinions and brought about some amusing discussion.

So now hate here, and I’d honestly be surprised if there was any hate for him anywhere on RA.

I’m not a hater. I’d eat you slow-cooked, with lots of smoky barbeque sauce!

If what I recall is correct (sorry, offering no references today), human flesh tastes closer to pork than any other meat. Why? I don’t know but suspect it’s based on our natural omnivorous diet.

For that reason, I’d suggest a lovely maple syrup and apple glaze.

Are there any vegans that only consume nuts? It might be an interesting experiment to see how their flesh goes against a breed of pigs (possibly from France?) that are feed with acorns as their source of protein.

maybe freddy could eat some of this frankenfood…

Should it save the life of an innocent animal I shall sacrifice myself.

You had the back of you hand on your forehead while you typed that, right?

😀

And you wonder why Vegans are seen generally as crackpots by the world at large. Comments like this don’t do the Vegan cause any favours whatsoever.

Don’t you care about the bacteria and insects that die as a result of your existence, Freddy? Or does the animal have to be fuzzy and wuvable to be considered innocent. It’s the arbitrariness of what counts as an innocent animal in veganism that s***s me.

That’s not fair!

That article linked to by JB is very worrying about dairy products. Worrying to me anyway.

I fully understand the desire to cause minimal harm to animals, but I do think that kangaroos in Australia are in a different category from cattle, in terms of damage to the land (which must impact on the survival of other animals).

I say well done to FreddyVegan for raising these general issues, even if I doubt that I could be a vegan.

She certainly attracted a lot of robust criticism.

Q. How can you tell if someone is a vegan?
A. They tell you.

Which just leaves the animals without innocence. Excellent.

I don’t hate you Freddy, I think you are sort of funny.

Me too, Freddy, you’ve assisted to provide a lot of entertainment, and for that I thank you.
Also noticed the latest ‘Tim the Yowie Man’ article/mention of Tidbinbilla in the local rag concluded with a recommendation of the Roo on the menu.
You’ve done a great service to Tourism of the area.

Which is not to say a vegan diet preserves all animals: http://www.animalvisuals.org/projects/data/1mc

Also not a hater, but it was a little bit of gamey, textured vegetable protein-y fun, sh!ts and/or giggles.

For the record, I love vegans. I just couldn’t eat a whole one.
