A short look at the view of this weekend’s Warehouse Winter Music Festival from the floor of the AIS Arena. It was posted to YouTube by “interspire1” with the following note:

A few snippets from Warehouse Music Festival 2009, taken on a Nokia E71

I think it captures a vibe quite well.

sounds great – I have an N95 and at concerts it sounds like I have the mic in the middle of a crashing a ocean wave! FAIL

Where the Cannons there? Herb?

Probably the best event I’ve been to since NeverEverLand back in 07 with Daft Punk headlining. The atmosphere was amazing, security was excellent and everyone was there for a good time. A well organised, and more importantly, well run event. Well done LexingtonMusic!

I think you’ll find that not all of the “kids” that attended Warehouse were there for the music – I personally was, but know of many that were there just for the atmosphere and the fact it was such a big event. Electronica has really come into its own lately, and frankly I’m glad it has! I felt like you lumnock when the norm and common theme was “RnB” (that had nothing to do with Rhythm and Blues) and Rap/Hiphop. At least the majority of Electronica has somesort of melody and creation behind it (whether it is covered with synths or other electronic substitutes).

Pretty sure your grandparents felt the same way about you lumnock.

Also worth noting that not all kids all like the same music.

The music kids listen to these days is beyond me. I remember when music had melody, meaning, and an uplifting tempo. There is something ironically primitive in ‘modern’ music. Granted, I can see how it could also be perceived as almost tribal with the rhythmic beat. Anyway, I’m hoping for a big comeback for The Beach Boys any day now that doesn’t include a subwoofer inspired remix. And don’t even get me started on their clothes and hair…..
