It’s always very exciting when a Canberra made feature film gets its debut (and well done to Dendy for putting these things on).

Here’s the Dendy blurb:

Peter Tunks is a bitter sarcastic loser, who upon winning the lottery found that he had only won $3200.23. Depressed and angry about his minuscule winnings, Peter Tunks spends two days contemplating the point of living on his couch. He came to the conclusion that is was all not worth it, and called up a suicide hotline to inform the counsellor that he was going to kill himself and he should send someone to clean up his remains. At first the councillor on the other end appears quite unconventional, and ends up being almost as negative as Peter. While Peter found the conversation enjoyable he still wished to die. The councillor on the other end of the phone, made him an offer to solve his finical situation.

Peter Tunks is bought to a warehouse and forced into a Russian roulette situation for the grand prize of 5 million dollars or death. There are twelve contestants that Peter must survive against for the prize, all under the watchful gaze of a beautiful hostess, Kelly.
The contestants are whittled away as the rounds progress, until the victor has emerged.

Developed, filmed and produced entirely in Canberra by local based company Velton Studios.

Everuyone has to start somewhere I guess…..maybe khepri would like to start the ball rolling on some fund raising so next time Mr Reavells production can have “far better production values, acting quality and directorial vision”??

Three cheers for Dendy showing this movie!! Support a Canberra local.

Well maybe these maestros should organise a public screening khepri?

While I wholeheartedly support new film-makers realizing their vision, I do not believe Dendy is the venue for this level of production. Based on the trailer, this production is not up to the standard of many amateur works I have seen in the ACT. There are productions coming out of ANU, UC, CIT and the ACT film-making community that present far better production value, acting quality and directorial vision. I am only afraid that people who pay to see this production will think it represents the standard of ACT film-making, and I know that Canberrans are capable of far more ‘polished’ works, even on a shoestring budget.

Hey this movie was made by a 20 year old Chris Reavell from Canberra…his first film. Seen the shorts and its very impressive. Made on the smell of an oily rag. Literally.

Looks amusing. Only 45 minutes long, but only $10 per ticket too.

Dendy should sack their copy editor.
