The private library

The Stanhope Tyranny continues to refuse to provide basic services in favour of running “inclusion committees” and keeping the highly paid in public housing.

The ABC reports that an intrepid bunch convened by Julie McCarron-Benson (she makes for interesting googling) is starting up their own library for the Inner South.

It’ll be interesting to see how they go getting the massive copyright exemptions a Library requires to stay on the right side of the law.

Hear hear. I’m happy to support people who try to make the world a better place, instead of posting whinges to the internet about how other people should be making the world a better place.

Do not underestimate the organisational ability and determination of the Narrabundah Lassie. She has been a tireless worker for Narrabundah and the inner south. Getting a library together with no funds, no premises and no staff has not put her off. She is having a go and there should be more people with the drive and energy to do things for the community the way she does

i recall an ancient battle where hives of bees were hurled by trebuchet into a castle.

Probably more of a political statement than a useful service. But still a good idea – if there’s a community need, and the ACT Government can’t get themselves organised to fill it, why not a community library? Having dealt with Julie in the past, I’d trust that her intentions are good and she’ll give it her best effort.

I really, really hope it gets up. I would donate books to that cause. I am sure that someone should be able to help them with the legal side.

Anything that supports a community against this evil dictatorship called a government is a good idea.
