The Raiders Bad Boy Dream Team

The Sydney Morning Herald has seen fit to put together a whole bad boy dream team of Canberra Raiders players:

RAIDERS RULE FLOUTERS

If there is anything the Canberra Raiders’ off-field controversies have taught us, it is that there are only so many times players can visit Questacon before they get bored and break bad. In light of Sandor Earl’s drug charges (albeit committed while he was at Penrith), Josh Dugan’s mid-season sacking and the daily episodes of Blake Ferguson, this column has tried to come up with the all-time Canberra Raiders “bad boy dream team”. Due to the over-representation of outside backs in the muck-up department, a few players will have to play out of position, but here it is:

1. Brett Mullins
2. Noa Nadruku
3. Blake Ferguson
4. Jason Bulgarelli (vc)
5. Joel Monaghan (c)
6. Josh Dugan
7. Todd Carney
8. Ben Kennedy
9. Sandor Earl
10. Graham Appo
11. Steve Irwin
12. Brandon Costin
13. Bronx Goodwin

Oh to see that side go around!

Bulgarelli….. the only player on that list I was glad to see go based on playing talent alone. No wonder he turned to drugs.

Bit harsh putting Ben Kennedy in there!

You must not have been to PJ O’Reilly’s during the ’90s.

Fair point. However, it should be remembered that Kennedy cleaned up his act and went on to become one of rugby league’s respected players and leaders – admittedly, after he moved on from the Raiders.

Typical of the media these days. Where was the research?

How could they have possibly missed Peter Jackson.

Loi Bon and David Grant would fix their lack of props

It would be easier to just start with the players list (http://www.raiders.com.au/all-time-player-list#) and just cross out the ones that haven’t been caught being a d-head. It would give you far more scope.

I agree with Willo. The late David Grant wrote the book on anti-social behaviour. The stories are legend . . .

They’d be unbeatable, on and off the field..

Especially if coached by Laurie Daly. If they win something, he can get pissed and drop the cup again…

what? no bench players? I’m sure there are plenty more eligible players particularly from earlier eras. how about Percy Lanciana. David Grant and Darren Fritz straight off the top of my head without really thinking too hard?

They’d be unbeatable, on and off the field..
