The Raiders saving Rugby League?

The Back Page Lead have a piece on how our own Canberra Raiders are the antidote to the Melbourne Storm.

And so without offending the other seven clubs which are still technically in the running, I want to say this: the Canberra Raiders are probably the only one left who can make us completely forget about the Sh*t Storm.

Call them Storm-away.

What better way to overshadow a team that gets $6 million a year from a media organisation and pays players with dodgy accounting than have a side sponsored by the CMFEU that always seems to be penny-pinching win the 2011 premiership?

Finals Tickets:

Now, onto ticketing for the home final against the Wests Tigers this Friday night.

The club has posted details.

Basically club members can get their tickets today, and from tomorrow the band wagon jumpers like me get a go at them.

Ticketek will be selling them and the cheapest adult tix are a pretty reasonable $30.

Rugby union fans in Penrith? Yeah right.

And if you’re buying tickets before tomorrow morning at 9am use the code nrl-10000

just grabbed half a dozen in the inner bowl, pretty much sold out there.

Apparently 10,500 tickets sold on Monday before release to the general public.

Get on it fast people.

What was with the (lack of) crowd at CUA on the weekend? 16k is paltry turn out by the Penwif locals for a home final. When they won the thing in 2003 they were regularly getting over 20k for regular season games.

Please spell it correctly: Penriff.

Very poor crowd for a final.

Remember the V8 taxi racing was on at Phillip Island and Penrith is bogan central so maybe they all went there.

Wallabies were playing in Sydney that night too.

What a great story. It’s nice to see the Raiders finally getting a bit of recognition. They got a decent write up in the Daily Telegraph on Sunday as well. National Nine news is about the only outlet that still doesn’t give the Raiders the respect they deserve, their coverage in the sports section of the news was woeful.

I was at the game on Saturday, and it was absolutely brillant to see all the Raiders supporters who had made the trip. The drive up the highway was fun as well, waving to all the other Raiders fans who were making the trip up.

Get your tickets while you can, because Saturday night will be a cracker of game.
