patterson's curse

Ben_Dover has noted some lovely purple blooms around town:

healthy looking crop of Patterson’s curse down at Aranda bushland again this year.

And the yellow flower is St Johns Wort – another bloody weed.

That’s depressing….

I wonder whether anyone else got your double entendre? 🙂

Yep, and IMO a worse one. It is rated worse on the weed scale, and it’s harder to get rid of. The ACT Government is doing its usual pathetic job of controlling it, ie zilch. It’s amusing to see how they put all that effort into getting rid of the willows along the molonglo, that’s allowing the Blackberries free rein now.

Eureka! After staring at the screen for ten useful minutes, I just figured it out. And I was just about to throw in the towel…so to speak.

Incidentally, the photograph is quite beautiful. It’s only our applying knowledge to it that makes it less so.

A neighbor down the road has his own plantation in the front yard, I suspect it will keep spreading as there is never any yard maintenance undertaken.
