The Return of the Pearly Griffin

Our Brave Leader has put out a media release to ensure we’re aware of the return of the slightly disgustingly named “Pearly Griffin” to our streets.

Mr Stanhope unveiled a miniature version of the Pearly Griffin (which has adorned the entrance to the old Griffin Centre for nearly 40 years) at the new Griffin Centre on Tuesday.

The wikipedia explains what a Griffin is (who on earth could mistake The City’s dragons with a griffin?).

Our Brave Leader however, continues…

“We don’t know for sure what the Pearly Griffin was meant to represent,” Mr Stanhope said.

I’m just guessing your excellency, but I’d wager it’s a rhyming play on “Burley Griffin”. Especially as that’s who the centre was named after?

Much like old Joh, eh?

It’s the federal aspirations when he’s state level that are starting to piss me off.

I think it’s telling that Stanhope clearly has no sense of humour (even if it’s an awful pun).

It seems to be a symptom of someone who takes themself too seriously.
