The Ridge Review

Do not let The Ridge’s location at Farrar shops deter you from dining in a style one would expect from eateries in more ‘trendy’ restaurant territory. Our Friday night at The Ridge was one of the most pleasant the evenings my dining partner and I have experienced all year. Upon stepping through the door and being enthusiastically greeted by the head chef, The Ridge established a mood of the warm and friendly service set amongst a professional and stylish atmosphere, which would be maintained throughout the evening. From the hand picked home grown flowers lovingly arranged on each to table, to the eye-catching native photography displayed on the walls, the obvious care and eye for detail demonstrated in the restaurant created a homely, yet elegant ambience. The attentive waiters ensured the service for the evening was timed to perfection. Their sociable nature provided entertaining but never intrusive conversation, allowing us to feel we were amongst friends and family.

The food at The Ridge was expertly cooked and masterfully presented. Specialising in organic cuisine, each course was fresh and tasty, leaving the diner delightfully sated. For entrée we chose the sesame-crusted prawns served with avocado and zucchini chips and the antipasto platter. Both were beautifully presented, with an exquisite array of differing tastes and colours. For main we ordered the teriyaki steak with tempura oysters and vegetables, and also the lamb encrusted in wattle seed served with kefler potatoes. One comment we both made at the end of the main was that for once the menu did not over state the meal. In fact it exceeded our high expectations. Both meats were cooked exactly as we had requested, and again everything tasted fresh and frankly delicious.

For dessert upon the recommendation of the waiter we both had a mini-sundae, consisting of home made ice cream and gelato, fresh fruit salad, whipped cream and chocolate sticks. Again it was more than satisfying, although it almost tasted to ‘healthy’ for such a treat.

The Ridge is offering a new menu as of next week to ensure they only serve fresh and in-season produce. We will most definitely be returning to taste what new culinary delights The Ridge has to offer.
