Howdy there, pilgrims! to The RiotACT Gig Guide for the 1st to the 7th of June! This week we’ve got a plethora of launches, with Sketch Method, Carb On Carb, Mick Thomas, Polish Club and Slim Jeffries all releasing fresh material to the Canberran public, as well as Boy George helping launch new venue Kokomo’s this Friday. Kyte will be hosting the huge Subsonic Music Festival for the ravers, the Street Theatre has a smattering of international jazz acts, while the Phoenix will be staging the likes of Capes, Helena Pop and Azim Zain and His Lovely Bones throughout the weekend. The Gig Guide’s marquee photo this week is of GhostNoises (taken by Alyssa Chapman), who you can catch on Wednesday night at Smith’s Alternative along with an unreal line-up – check for details below!

Two more – both at the Harmonie German Club in Narrabundah:

Friday 2 June – FREE SHOW – Australian Blues artist PJ O’Brien with Al Britton (Bondi Cigars) on bass & Chris Nable on drums.

Saturday 3 June – Battle of the Bands – Four local bands ZACKERBILKS (Vintage Trad-Dixie), URBAN DROVER (Country Rock), VIOLET FAYE (Fusion Rock/Punk/Pop), and HIGH VIEW (Progressive/Heavy Rock) are competing. Tix $10. (Bands are paid to perform.)
