This week’s Gig Guide features Sketch Method, one of Canberra’s hardest-working and finest punk rock bands. You would have seen their names plastered on many gigs throughout the year, and this week they take part in the Transit Punk Xmas Bash with Bennylava, Nerdlinger, Vetty Vials & The Sandpit Turtles, The Great Awake and more this Saturday night.
Mick Thomas is bringing round his annual Christmas show over two separate shows this Thursday at Smith’s Alternative with the Roving Commission. Sharing a similar tradition is Darren Hanlon, who will be doing his Christmas stopover in Canberra at Ainslie Arts Centre this Friday from 7.30 pm.
Other shows to look out for include indie pop band Girlatone‘s LP launch at Smith’s this Friday with the ever-great Dog Name, while at Transit it’s a huge funk night with An Inconvenient Groove, Pleased to Jive You and The Wumpaz. And if you like grooves, check out the Groove Warehouse Annual Concert over at The Street Theatre on Saturday, where a wide range of percussion, rhythms and beats will be on display from 6.30 pm.
