This week, The RiotACT Gig Guide features Lady Denman, Canberra’s self-described “hottest new indie post-punk folk-apocalyptic jangly bliss pop band conquering the world in velvet”. If you want to hear exactly what that sounds like, they will be hosting the Smith’s Varietal tonight from 9.30 pm. They have gathered up a huge line-up which includes Chris Endrey and Rosie Heselev, check it out below!

The Next Movement is putting on another ripper show, with the Ansah Brothers headlining “Urban Groove Affair”, featuring the brilliant Lash, Cappo, Flimzy and hosted by Jedbrii at Transit on Thursday. The Basement is putting on some big shows this week, with Giants of Metal and QuestFest sporting some wonderfully brutal line-ups, including bands Taliesman, Beast Impalor, Saralisse, Stone Sovereign and many more. Kilroy, Happy Axe, Betty Alto and a band with the delightful name of Nic Cage & The Bad Seats are all playing around town at some point this St Pat’s Day weekend, so get planning!

And Art, Not Apart is on this weekend – check it out at New Acton. I am particularly keen for Babyfreeze’s Charity Single Launch, rallying around the cause to find a cure for death. A worthy cause indeed!
