The smell of Emily – tales from the city

By johnboy - 22 April 2009 35

[First filed: April 22, 2009 @ 10:03]

I came across this yesterday while walking past Allawa Court, the really sketchy flats to the north of Civic.

I’ve never walked that way before so I have no idea how long it’s been there. I just thought it was desperately sweet.

If you’re having trouble seeing it, it reads:

“Feni loves with his black doggin heart
    The Smell of Emily”

What’s Your opinion?

I wouldn’t know, Fisho, since I’ve never personally sniffed a chair. I tend to inhale the scent of a person as I lean in to kiss them, and that can be the sweet scent of an infant or child or the special scent of a partner. If a man smells wrong, I can’t kiss him. Simple as that.

Then why is chair-sniffing frowned upon?

I’m sure nobody cares what you do behind closed doors, Fisho ….

If it was done behind closed doors there would no-one around to frown.

For those not in the know, kids call a ‘dog’ a ‘dobber’.

Isn’t ‘dogging’ also a descriptor for people who like to watch others having sex in a public place?

Gee, when I was younger, if you really felt that way about someone you’d send them a card or a letter to tell them how much they meant to you – now it seems you just scrawl this crap all over public and private property instead.

Ah Mr Evil. I’m sure in your day, families of 150 used to live in shoeboxes in the middle of the road and children had to satnd in cow pats on thier way to school to stop their feet from freezing.

I think its beautiful.

…the Emily sentiment…….not the shoebox thing…

“Black doggin’ heart”

Methinks that the locale and writing would indicate a person who has ‘dogged’ on their mates, which is not an uncommon occurrence in those parts.

A Rose for Emily

I think that is a Zombies song.

The smell of somebody is really important. Whether baby or child or lover, the pheromones are a unique and pleasurable sensory experience.

A Rose for Emily by any other would smell as sweet and a lot sweeter than the rotting body of Homer.

Are we sure this is not one of the Chiefly One’s famed public artworks? It probably cost $300000.

You should all be grateful our lives are being enriched this way.

I actually really like it.

A shoe-in for the ACT Poetry Award I say.

I think I speak for all Riotacters when I say: Dogging rulez!
