The tide from media to Government flows on

The gossip trickling down the grapevine and into the RiotACT foxhole (one day we’ll have a bunker) is that Patrick Cronan from 2CC will be Simon Corbell’s next media advisor.

There doesn’t seem to be any way to stop this sort of thing happening. Ex-journos make the best spinners because, knowing their fellow journalists well, they feel no guilt about lying to them. And a few years of bad pay working for bad bosses will drive anyone to seek a move sideways into a related industry.

But next time you hear a journo reporting on the Government, wouldn’t it be nice to know if they were simultaneously interviewing for a Government job? And what sort of reporting are we getting generally when the only future career path to decent pay and conditions is to snag a job with the Government you’re supposed to be holding to account?

(This isn’t to pick on Patrick who’s no more guilty than so many in a long long line.)

What happened to Simon’s last media adviser? What could be better than that job?

His nose grew too long to fit in the office.

He didn’t become a real live boy?

Back on topic I love the ‘what you need to know about Patrick Cronan‘ bit on the 2CA site.

Not clear what his interest in either the job or Canberra would be though.
