The view from Bonner. Images of Canberra

Holden Caulfield has sent this in:

I went for a bit of a drive yesterday and found myself in Bonner. The elevated view to the south from Ida West Street is actually very good. In return for your lengthy adventure you get a wonderful panorama to enjoy which showcases the city of Canberra rather nicely.

People will no doubt debate the merits of living in Canberra’s northernmost location, apparently miles from anywhere, but it’s pretty hard to argue with the view.

Here’s the Google Maps ref: http://goo.gl/maps/GcUCZ

I took this photo on the Hill behind Bonner…

At that point, I think I’m about 50ish metres from the NSW/ACT Border

I hope the Others don’t breach the Wall.

Do you work for the Centenary celebrations people?

Interesting to note all the dark coloured roof tiles.

Superb images from everyone! It’s nice to see Gungahlin in a nicer light.

I took this photo on the Hill behind Bonner back in November (hence why Bonner might look a little underdeveloped):

Growth area, new houses, big primary school designed with environmental sustainability as a priority, a Woolies and Coffee Guru as the local suburb shops, no more than a 30min work commute to Civic if leave by 7.30, cafes restaurants and department stores under construction across the road… I think there are at least a few merits there 🙂

(obviously am a proud resident! hehe)

And 40 hectares allocated for office accommodation (with the first 500-person office on the way) so for some, work just 5 minutes away!

I have a larger version that I can upload after work.

Well done Gazer,
That view would look pretty impressive at night
Pity they got rid of firecracker night. 🙂
I’d imagine those elevated blocks are expensive

Your eyesight must be better than mine!

Nice shot, it really is a spectacular view from up there.

For those interested, here’s a panoramic shot from almost that exact location that I took in October last year.
