Lake Tuggeranong College and the Lakeside Players present The Who’s ‘Tommy’, a rock musical by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff.

Tommy is psychosomatically deaf dumb and blind. As a small child, he accidentally witnessed the murder of his stepfather by his father. His mother and father told him to forget everything he had seen and heard, and to never talk about it; but Tommy carried it to the extreme, turned inward, and stopped seeing, hearing or speaking at all. He suffered much while growing up, and finally found happiness in, of all things, playing pinball. When he became the world champion pinball player it brought him fame and fortune. After being spontaneously healed, he began to teach others of his unique perspective on life, eventually becoming a religious cult figure.

but to me he’s still brave, gone to his watery grave, for the lives he did save he was Tarzan.

Ah yes Tarzan Super Ape. The last great thing to come out of the Illawarra.

Yup, tickets are available now 🙂

BTW, IMO, the stage show is FAR better than the movie.

Tarzan Super Ape is my favourite rock opera!

*chuckle*

ooh, does that mean that tickets are avalible from the front office, as we speak??

(YEAH! WOO! GO LTC! :D)

All I could remember was that the parents were involved in a murder – been years since I’ve seen the movie, and it’s not explicitly mentioned in the soundtrack.

The specifics are not that important to the story though. What’s important is that it was a traumatic event for little Tommy.

In the movie he did. Other way around in the original stage show.

… didn’t the step-father kill the father?

Oooh – I’ve always been a fan of the ‘rock opera’ … I’ll be in the crowd, singing along no doubt 😉

Ever since I was a young boy, I played the silver ball … That deaf, dumb and blind kid, sure plays a mean pinball
