I have several successes with Manhos Renewed Appliances in Ipswich St. I’ve bought parts from them on a few occasions, and once they did a house call to fix our freezer. They could also sort you out with a decent 2nd hand beer fridge.

Manho’s….are you for real?

Any Manho that does house calls aint there to fix your fridge! I’d be cornering the missus and demanding a ‘please explain’ why Manho’s are in the house!

Every normal beer drinking bloke in Oz knows that the best way to fix a beer fridge is to get your wifeho to grab a coldy from the back-up fridge….you do have a back-up fridge don’t you?

In Cooma we have natives bring down ice from the mountains to cool out drinks.

The Jimmy School of Fixerupperers has this advice:

Pick up a working frig from somewhere. Drill a couple of 25mm holes into the door, all the way into it. Pick up a casse fan from a dead computer. Using some duct tape and some discarded PET bottles, construct a housing that will allow the fan to suck air along a 25mm hose. Get hold of a couple of metres of 25mm hose. Drill a couple of 25mm holes in your non-working frig. Cleverly arrange the hoses so that the air is drawn from the working frig into the non-working one, by means of the duct-taped computer case fan arrangement constructed already. As long as the air can circulate freely between the new working frig and the old non-working beer frig via the hoses, the old frig will work good as new.

That’s how I’d do it, any one got a better solution?

Buy a new fridge, not that expensive these days and beer is far too important to rely on cheaparse cooling options.

Yeah thats sort of what I thought.

Only thing is that it’s even thought it’s pretty old (8 years) it’s still in good nick (and pretty sure it’s the thermostat), and what’s to say when i buy a second hand one, the same thing won’t happen in 6 months 🙂

Hmmm

It’ll cost you far more to have it looked at than it’s worth. On 666 a week or so back they were talking about the skills shortage in Canberra, and refrigeration mechanic was one of the main ones.

Find a cheap fridge through somewhere like allclassifieds, then phone the scrap metal people to come and take away your dead one for free.

For much, much less than you’ll pay to have your existing fridge looked at, you’ll have a replacement fridge in working order, and there’ll be one less fridge taking up space in Canberra.
