They have actually been charged with Murder and Affrey.

I suspect these are just initial charges to get them before the court and put some pressure on them to start talking and informing on their mates.

I’d suggest, if they’re going to spend two years in juvie, maybe some community work with victims of crime? Perhaps even Mr. Knight’s family (if they’re able to, of course). 16 is still young enough to learn. Perhaps if they were exposed to the human cost of their wannabe gangsta behavior, they might start to make better decisions about their lives in the future.

They haven’t actually been accused of directly causing Mr Knight’s death. From the ABC:

The 16-year-old has been charged with conceal a serous offence, in relation to Mr Knight’s shooting.

He has been given conditional bail, to appear at Parramatta Children’s Court next month.

The 17-year-old has been charged with affray in relation to an alleged fight at a Bankstown shopping centre earlier in the night.

He is also due to appear in court next month.

A 26-year-old man, who was arrested after he was chased by police that night, has already been charged with traffic offences.

I suspect they’ll get a couple of years or so in juvenile detention, their identities never made public, and then they’ll go on to be adult thugs having honed their criminal skills while in with the other trainee criminals.

May this bring some closure to Mr Knight’s family.

I can’t believe their ages – will they even see jail or just get a slap on the hand?

I dunno, on the TV news they were being charged with things like “causing affray”. Not causing the death of a hardworking, decent bloke.

Good Police work, well done.
It would be interesting to know how 2 teenagers came into possession of a gun or guns.

they’ll be going to court in NSw, it’s not nearly as sooky and woosey as the ACT court system.

It’s in NSW, where they actually sentence people to gaol for killing people, Two Ton Terry won’t get anywhere near it but could learn something from it

I hope they enjoy playing leapfrog with the lifers.

For God’s sake, don’t let them near Higgin’s court!
Make them pay.

Lets wait for a conviction.

And then…a sentence.
